Most ships pay in US Currency via direct deposit. Depending on the ship, payments are generally made monthly or bi-monthly.
Federal taxes only are deducted for US Citizens. If you are a non-US Citizen, you are responsible for declaring any income made on board.
A valid passport is required until at least six months beyond the ending date of your assignment.
A C1/D visa is required for non-US/Canadian citizens. After you are hired and onboarding documents are processed, you will receive a letter of employment and supporting documents to take to the US Embassy for your visa interview. Some countries also require a visa for certain nationalities.
Most gigs are 3-6 months long.
Yes. A pre-employment physical examination is required prior to commencing employment. This can include a drug test, blood tests and a chest X-ray. Your medical certificate is generally valid for two years from the date of your examination, covering you for follow up assignments.
Yes. Your travel arrangements will be coordinated by us in conjunction with the cruise line.
You can expect to participate in safety drills once or twice a cruise.
Yes, this is encouraged as long as you aren’t interfering with any onboard activities.
Yes. There is internet available onboard with wireless access. Internet generally costs 6-10 cents/minute. Most ports will also have internet cafes nearby to where the ship docks.
Coin-operated washers and dryers are provided. Your formal wear can usually be dry-cleaned on board.
You will have access to most guest areas. Guest cabins are strictly off limits as is the casino, unless you are performing in the casino.
We will let you know once you are hired. Each ship has different uniform requirements. Formal attire is generally required at least once or twice per cruise.
Yes, once given approval by the cruise line. The cruise line may take a fee for any CDs you sell, although Quality Overseas Music does not.
Of course. Generally, your sets will be in the evening and the ship will be docked during the day, so there are many opportunities for musicians to explore the ports of call.
Friends and family discounts are available once you have worked with the company for a specific period of time. These benefits usually become available after six months
